Amee Yajnik is one of the founding members of AIFWL. She is a practicing lawyer since 1984. Besides her law degree she also Master of the Science of Law, Doctor of the Science of Law degrees. She has served as Assistant Government Pleader and Additional Public Prosecutor in the High Court of Gujarat, as Standing Counsel for the Central Government and has represented a variety of clients including State Corporations and several Social and Charitable Organizations.

An active member of the organization, she gives valuable inputs on how the organization can play a significant role in spreading legal awareness and also bring together women lawyers from different parts of the country to deliberate on contemporary issues affecting women. A significant part of her legal practice has been gender justice related work which includes pro bono legal aid for women and legal awareness campaigns for women’s rights at grass roots level. She has been a member of the National Commission for Women appointed Inquiry Committees for Patan Gang Rape Case, Deaths of minor girls in BT cottonseed fields in Gujarat and Female Foeticide in Gujarat She is member of Global Action Committee for Elimination of Family Violence. Since 2010, she has been writing a weekly column on “Women Adhikar” in Divya Bhasker and “Law for Ladies” in Sandesh, prominent Gujarati newspapers.

She is guest faculty at various educational institutions and has been invited speaker at national and international seminars and conferences. She has presented her papers at the Central European University, Budapest, University of Berkeley, USA, World Conferences on Family Violence at Singapore and Nicosia. She was a special invitee to Kuala Lumpur to be a member of the International Taskforce on Women and Information and Communications Technology. She has authored several papers for reputed journals and conferences.

She has won many awards, recent ones being the Ladli Media Award 2012, National Commission for Women honoured her as an Outstanding Woman on the occasion of International Women’s Day celebrations on March 8th 2013 and Leading Humanitarian Award 2015 by Women Leaders of India.
