Federation of Women Lawyers, Gujarat was happy to host the National Conference of the All India Federation of Women Lawyers at Ahmedabad. Members of conference organising committees worked hard to make the Conference a grand success.
         
         

The theme of the Conference was “Justice For All : Gender Justice – Social Justice”. The inaugural address was given by His Lordship Honourable Justice Shri Jasti Chelameswar, Judge, Supreme Court of India and special address was given by Honourable Justice Shri R. Subhash Reddy, Chief Justice, High Court of Gujarat, in the august presence of Honourable Justice Shri M.R. Shah, Judge, High Court of Gujarat, Honourable Justice Smt.Harsha N. Devani, Judge, High Court of Gujarat and Shri Kamal B. Trivedi, Advocate General, High Court of Gujarat.

         
         
         
         
         
         
         
         
         

Session 1 on “Empowering Women – Law, Society and Justice”
Ms.Preeti Shah, Secretary, AIFWL, was the Chairperson of the Session Honourable Justice Shri M.R. Shah, Executive Chairman, Gujarat State Legal Services Authority, Dharmishta Raval, Advocate, Gujarat High Court, Shri Girish Patel, Senior Advocate, Gujarat High Court and Karuna Nundy, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, were the panel speakers of the session.

         
         
         
         

Session 2 - Talk Show on “Judicial Approach in Women’s Issues”
Dr.Amee Yajnik, President, AIFWL, gave the introduction of the Talk Show Shri Dushyant Dave, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India and Ms.Abha Singh, Advocate, High Court of Bombay were the two panelists while Shri Prakash Jani, Additional Advocate General, High Court of Gujarat, moderated the show. There was a questions and answers session thereafter.

         
         
         
         

Session 3 - on “Secure Women for a Secure State”
Smt.M. Bhaskara Lakshmi, Former President of AIFWL, was the Chairperson of the Session Honourable Justice Shri U. Durga Prasad Rao, Judge, High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the State of Telangana and State of Andhra Pradesh, Honourable Justice Ms.S.G. Gokani, Gujarat High Court Ms.N.S. Nappinai, Advocate, Supreme Court of India and the Bombay High Court were the panelists.

         
         
         
         
         

Session 4 - Mock Court Session
The Mock Court was on the topic – whether Article 15(3) of the Constitution is redundant and violative of principles of equality and basic structure of the Constitution. The case was presented by Ms.Indrayani Patni, Parliamentarian of AIFWL.
Honourable Justice Shri Akil Kureshi, Judge, High Court of Gujarat, Honourable Justice Shri A.J. Desai, Judge, High Court of Gujarat and Honourable Justice Ms.Bela Trivedi, Judge, High Court of Gujarat, constituted the Bench. Ms.Karthika Sukumaran, Advocate, Kochi, appeared for the Petitioner, Ms.Mrinalini Deshmukh, Advocate, Bombay, appeared for the Respondent and Ms.Swathi G., Advocate, Hyderabad, appeared on behalf of the intervener.

         
         
         
         
         
         
         
         

Session 5 on “Dynamics of Gender Justice”
Advocate Ms.K. Shanthakumari, Former President of AIFWL was the Chairperson of the Session Honourable Justice Shri V. Rama Subramanian, Judge, High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the State of Telangana and State of Andhra Pradesh, Smt.Minaxi Arora, Advocate, Supreme Court India and Ms.Neeraja Gotru, IPS, I.G. Valedictory Program
Honourable Justice Abhilasha Kumari, Judge, High Court of Gujarat, delivered valedictory address, Honourable Justice K.S. Jhaveri, Judge, High Court of Rajasthan gave a special address in the presence of guests Smt.Manisha Shah, Government Pleader, Gujarat High Court and Shri Asim Pandya, President, Gujarat High Court Advocates’ Association.

         
         
         
         
         
         
         
         
         
         

Reports by various States Units and celebration
